Floating Trash Barriers
AlphaMERS Floating Trash Barriers: Pioneering Water Body Restoration
AlphaMERS has made impressive strides with its innovative floating trash barriers (FTBs), designed to restore water bodies to their pristine, natural state. As the exclusive sales partner for the Himalayan territories of Jammu and Kashmir, HAL CORPS has been at the forefront of deploying these cutting-edge barriers. The FTBs are constructed as standing mesh structures, engineered for both hydrostatic and hydrodynamic stability. These barriers effectively capture solid waste while allowing the free flow of water. Strategically placed diagonally across water bodies, they direct trash toward one end for efficient collection.
AlphaMERS has successfully implemented its proprietary floating trash barrier technology in nine cities across India: Gorakhpur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mysore, Coimbatore, Puducherry, Chennai, Thanjavur, and Tuticorin. In total, nearly 3,500 meters of these barriers have been deployed. The first installations were pilot projects in Bengaluru and Chennai in 2015 and 2016. By 2017, the first commercial deployment had successfully captured 22,000 tons of waste, including 2,200 tons of plastic.
